Prétérit simple = pour des présent de vérité générale, des actions habituelles, des sentiments.... des actions passées courtes, qui durent peu de temps

Prétérit Be = v-ing = pour des actions passées en cours, des actions qui "étaient en train" de se passer

1- The killer entered the house when everyone was sleeping.

2- He was looking for his knife when his mobile phone rang.

3- Everyboby woke up when they heard it.

4- They screamed and called the police.

5- The killer was climbing out the window when he got stuck.

6- He shouted   he was innocent.

7- He was still yelling when the police found him.

8- Later that night, he found out it was his mother on the phone.

9- She wanted to know what time he was coming home !

1- Dracula entered the bedroom when  his victim was sleeping.

3- Buffy was walking in the cemetery when demons saw her.
